스포츠실용차(SUV)의 질주가 이어지고 있다. 10일 한국자동차산업협회 집계를 보면, 지난 9월 국내에서 판매된 에스유브이는 5만1851대로 세단(4만6812대)보다 5천대 넘게 더 팔렸다. 신차 판매 10대 중 5대 이상이 에스유브이라는 이야기다. 덩치 큰 대형부터 소형 차급까지 가히 에스유브이 열풍이라 할만하다. 10년 전까지만해도 전체 승용차에서 에스유브이가 차지하는 비중은 20% 수준에 불과했다. 2014년 34%로 뛰더니 지난해에는 47%까지 높아졌다. 올 들어 3월에 이어 8~9월 두 달 연속 월간 에스유브이 판매 비중이 절반을 넘어섬으로써 ‘승용차는 세단’이라는 공식은 이제 옛말이 됐다.
