14일(한국 시간) 먹튀검증미국 매체 ESPN의 엔리케 로하스는 "쿠에바스가 2021년 연봉 100만 달러의 계약에 합의했다. 별도의 인센티브가 존재하며, 170만 달러 규모의 2022년 선수 옵션도 포함돼있다"는 소식을 전했다.
2019년 KT에 합류한 쿠에바스는 2년간 57경기에 나서 23승 18패, 평균자책점 3.84를 기록했다. 올해는 27경기 10승 8패, 158이닝 110탈삼진, 평균자책점 4.10으로 지난해보다 부진한 성적을 기록했지만, KT의 축구중계정규 시즌 2위 및 창단 첫 포스트시즌 진출에 공헌했다.
포스트시즌에서는 경기대포장이사두산 베어스를 상대로 8이닝 1실점 호투를 펼치며, KT의 포스트시즌 첫 승리 투수가 되기도 했다.
