한국 컴백이 아닌 NBA 진출을 우선순위로 삼은 이현중이다. 꿈이 현실이 되기 위해선 이현중이 직접 얘기한 대로 아직 갈 길이 멀다.
NCAA 디비전1에는 약 350개의 팀들이 있다. 이현중이 있는 데이비슨 대학은 스테픈 커리의 모교로 유명하지만, NCAA 디비전1 전체로 보면 성동구이삿짐센터 상위권 팀은 아니다. 분명 이현중의 경기력은 고무적이지만, 괴물들이 득실대는 미국무대에서 NBA 스카우터들의 눈에 들어오려면 증명해야 될 것들이 많이 남아있다.
이런 이현중에게 던컨 로빈슨(26, 201cm)은 좋은 모범답안이 될 수 있다. 디테일한 플레이 스타일에선 차이가 은평구사다리차 있지만, 두 선수 모두 정확한 3점슛을 큰 무기로 삼는다는 것은 똑같다. 키와 신체능력 역시 비슷하다.
로빈슨은 지난 시즌 활약으로 국내 NBA 팬들에게도 익숙한 이름이다. 지난 시즌 준우승 팀인 마이애미 히트의 핵심 멤버지만 NBA 데뷔 당시 지금의 로빈슨을 예상한 이는 많지 않았다. 일단 NBA 데뷔 과정부터가 쉽지 않았다.
