리오넬 메시(33·바르셀로나)가 브라질 레전드 펠레와 단일 클럽 최다골 기록 타이를 이뤘다.

메시는 20일(한국시간) 스페인 캄프 스포츠중계사이트 누에서 열린 발렌시아와 2020-2021시즌 스페인 프리메라리가 14라운드 홈경기에 선발 출전해 0-1로 끌려가던 전반 추가시간 동점골을 넣었다.

메시는 페널티킥 키커로 나서 슈팅이 하우메 도메네크 골키퍼에게 막혔지만 이어지는 찬스에서 호르디 알바가 올린 크로스를 이천용달이사 머리로 밀어넣었다.

메시의 바르셀로나 통산 643골(748경기)로 펠레가 산투스(브라질)에서 달성한 단일 클럽 최다골과 어깨를 나란히 했다. 펠레의 757경기보다 9경기를 앞당긴 기록이다.

메시는 2004년 1군 무대에 스포츠TV 데뷔해 16년 동안 바르셀로나에서 뛰고 있다.

이제 한 골을 추가하면 펠레를 넘어 단일 클럽 최다골 기록의 주인공이 된다.
