그가 한때 꿈많은 문학소녀였다는 사실도 생활밀착형 배우로서 지닌 강점이다. 시장 인근에서 장사하던 집에서 태어나 학창시절 국어교사를 꿈꾸며 서울여대 국문과에 입학한 그는 대학 시절엔 방송국 PD를 꿈꾸며 방송반에 들어갔다가 실망해 연극반 동아리 활동을 시작했다고 했다. 졸업 후 입사한 출판사까지 합하면 꽤 다양한 직업군을 체험한 셈이다. 평범한 사람들이 어떤 얼굴로 하루하루를 살아가는지 안다는 얘기다. 그래서인지 그의 지난 인터뷰에는 하나같이 적잖은 행간이 느껴졌다. 단어 하나 허투루 말하지 않는 신중함과 삶에 뿌리내리고 있는 사람만이 지닐 수 있는 단단함 같은. 그가 보여줄 또 다른 얼굴이 궁금하다.
