미국 남북전쟁이 한창이던 1860년대, 네 자매는 서로를 다독이며 각자의 꿈을 키워간다. 어려운 환경에도 굴하지 않고, 아름답고 당당하게 성장해 간다. 이 과정을 따뜻한 시선으로 담아낸 미국 작가 루이자 메이 올콧의 소설 《작은 아씨들》(1968)은 전 세계 독자를 사로잡았다. 출간 이후 영화, 연극, 오페라 등 다양한 장르로 각색되기도 했다. 지난 2월엔 시얼샤 로넌, 엠마 왓슨 등이 출연한 동명의 영화가 개봉돼 큰 인기를 얻었다.그는 뮤지컬 ‘레드북’ ‘시티오브앤젤’ ‘다윈 영의 악의 기원’ 등 다양한 작품을 선보여 왔다. ‘레드북’을 통해 지난해 ‘한국뮤지컬어워즈 연출상’을 받았다.
