스포츠호치 등 일본 언론은 23일 "한신이 알칸타라 영입을 확정했다"고 보도했다. 공식적인 발표는 나지 않았으나 일본 챔피언스리그분석 언론들은 2년간 400만 달러(약 44억 원)에 계약했다고 내다봤다. 알칸타라는 올 시즌 두산에서 70만 달러의 연봉을 받았다.
알칸타라는 올 시즌 20승 2패 평균자책점 2.54의 빼어난 성적을 올리며 다승과 승률 타이틀을 차지했고, 투수 부문 골든글러브까지 수상하며 최고의 투수로 떠올랐다.
알칸타라까지 영입한 한신은 최근 손흥민중계 계약에 성공한 2020시즌 KBO리그 MVP 멜 로하스 주니어에 이어 지난해 타점왕 제리 샌즈와의 재계약까지 이루면서 한국산 외국인 선수를 셋이나 보유하게 됐다.
계약을 마친 알칸타라는 자신의 SNS를 통해 두산 베어스에 대한 고마움을 나타냈다. 그는 “두산이 내게 준 기회에 감사하고 훌륭한 팀의 일원이었던 점에 감사한다”면서 “두산에서의 시간은 나의 커리어 중 가장 좋은 추억 중 이사사다리차 하나였다. 뜨거운 응원을 보내준 팬들께도 감사드린다”라고 밝혔다.
